Abstract

Development work has been carried out on natural rubber (NR) bearings reinforced with a range of non-metallic materials. The best composite system developed is NR/Aramid bonded with a proprietary adhesive. An equation has been developed to calculate the limiting stress which could assist in the design of rubber bearings which comply with engineering specifications.
