Abstract
During the dry season, the irrigation system is intended to supply supplemental irrigation. For the growth of grain corn, there are many different types of irrigation systems that can be built. In Malaysia, it is preferable to use overhead or spray drip irrigation for undulating terrain. While for flat terrain, all types of irrigation can be employed. The experiment was run at the Malaysia Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) in Penang, Malaysia and operated by the Engineering Research Centre in the year 2020-2021. A randomized complete-block design was used with three replications of one plot each. Three treatment were established according to selected irrigation system: sprinkler 323 (control), Rain tape system, and Rotator system. A local weather station report that estimates reference of evapotranspiration (ET). Every irrigation system was installed with pressure gauge to standardize the pressure during the irrigation event. The field mechanization planting method were applied for the land preparation, seeding, crop maintenance and harvesting. The potential of grain corn production by different of irrigation system exceed 4 t/ha. Good cultural practice and with properly design of water management system allow grain production to the potential level.
