Abstract
This article discusses the learning process that companies related to ecotourism activities may go through. The basic concepts, approaches, and management roles of a learning organization are described. The article looks at the five disciplines of a learning organization and how these disciplines can be applied by organizations related to the ecotourism industry in order to better appreciate and achieve the various objectives of ecotourism activities viz. environment conservation and sustenance of local community well-being. It also relates to possible problems and issues in implementing and enhancing learning in these organizations for achieving ecotourism objectives. The article serves managers of organizations related to ecotourism to some perspectives of systemic thinking needed to develop their organization to a learning organization to better view, comprehend and manage problems and issues related to ecotourism. The article concludes on managerial practice of the five disciplines to increase the potential of individuals and groups in their organizations to better handle ecotourism issues and challenges.
