Abstract

The preliminary studies suggested that the activity of SOD appears to be related to the amount of manganese present in the leaves. Superoxide dismutase activation is also influenced by the addition and incubation of exogenous manganese in the enzyme assay mixtures. The chlorophyll content was estimated to serve as a means of indicating the degree of chlorosis. The results showed that the total chlorophyll content was affected in manganese-stress plants especially the concentration of chlorophyll be which appeared to vary with different concentrations of manganese applied. The use of SOD (whose activity is also influenced by other metals) in the biochemical diagnosis of interaction effects of zinc iron and copper will be further detailed
