Abstract

Experiments on K requirements of pineapples Smooth Cayenne variety were conducted at 15 widely scattered locations in Taiwan on soils with exchangeable and non-exchangeable K levels ranging from 23 to 109 ppm and from 166 to 482 ppm respectively. The critical level of exchangeable K in soil was 140 ppm as evaluated from the total yield of plant and ratoon crops. For the plant crop alone the critical value was about 70 ppm where the soil texture was sandy while it was 160 ppm if the texture was clayey or loamy
