Abstract

The leaves of the affected trees showed symptoms of yellowish green in colour with distinct green midrib veins and veinlets. The symptoms appeared in the young leaves or topwhorl leaves in the case of Hevea seedlings. In a set of pot experiments using Hevea seedlings applications of upto 640 ppm in the form of MnSO to a low Mn soil produced similar symptoms after about one month of Mn application. The concentration of Mn in the leaves was as high as 3185 ppm. In another set of pot experiments also with Hevea seedlings similar symptoms were observed with soils having high EDTA extractable Mn
