Abstract
Food marketing was characterized by structural deficiencies like relatively high concentration and high barriers to entry at certain market levels; long distributional chains poor grading and inadequate quality specifications and lastly the unsatisfactory dissemination of market intelligence. The structural weaknesses were partly reflected in the food price behaviour of various market levels and centres. The price-cross relationships between the market centres and levels for some food products suggested a low degree of market integration possibly due to the low level of market integration.
