Abstract

The most important strategic planning tool for multi-functional forest management is Forest Zoning based on Forest Function Mapping. During Forest Function Mapping the locally prevailing environment is assessed based on which specific functions for each forest area are derived (e.g. soil consernation). The process of Forest Zoning developed by the Project accounts for overlaps and different levels of restrictiveness of the various forest functionsc by grouping them into five different Forest Zones: (i) Timber Production with LIL (iv) Protection Forest and (v) Non-Productive.
