Abstract

The current paper presents progress in the Genetics, Cambridge University (UK)- New Britain Palm Oil Ltd. (PNG) molecular marker programme over the last four years. One hundred and three microsatellites have been developed, together with a copia-based marker system that is highly polymorphic within E. guineensis. Together with AFLPs as a comparison, these two marker systems have been used to develop a genetic map in Dami material and an initial QTL study has been undertaken. Future plans are presented.
