Abstract
Soil nutrient spatial variability map is important in precision farming. A study was carried out at Dusun Durian Estate, a mature oil palm plantation on coastal soil, within geographic coordinates of 311,144 m to 312,062 m north and 385,825 m to 386,305 m east. Soil data collection at O to 15 cm and 15 to 30 cm depth was conducted using systematic sampling. The nutrients were analyzed for spatial dependence and map interpolation using Geostatistical software and GIS for manipulation of data. An Omni Star Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) was used to determine precise sampling sites. The objective of this study is to quantify and map spatial distribution of major soil nutrients status (N, P, K) for site-specific management. Total soil N in the study area can be classified into low and moderate level, whereas, available P and exchangeable K varied from low to very high levels. Total N has a strong relationship with soil organic C, while available P is highly correlated with soil pH. Geostatistical analysis showed that both of total N at top and sub-layers could be classified as moderate spatial dependence with the lag distance of about 58 m for top-layer and 52 m for sub-layer. Soil available Pat top-layer was classified as moderate, while strong spatial dependence for sub-layer, within the lag distance of about 117 m for top-layer and 141 m for sub layer. Meanwhile, exchangeable K in soil both at top and sub-layers has a moderate spatial dependence, with the lag distance of about 66 m and 45 m for top and sub-layers, respectively.
