Abstract

Electro-sampling method during low water level at selected small streams around Gunung Jerai Permanent Forest Reserve recorded a total of 37 species comprising 14 families. Two species, Rasbora trilineata and Systomus partipentazona were identified visually at lower part of Sg. Teroi (Station 1). Cyprinidae represented by 13 species is the most dominant fish family in the sampling areas. Devario regina and Systomus binototus were the most abundant fish species that been recorded at all stations. The presence of Carrasius auratus, an exotic and popular aquarium fish species, at Sg. Badak (Station 2) showed that the human intervention would influence the local fish biodiversity.
