Abstract

A brief netting survey of the understorey bird species of Gunung Jerai Permanent Forest Reserve was conducted from 6-9 June 2005. All captured individuals were identified to species besides gathering other information such as sex and age. This survey recorded a total of 27 bird species from 11 families. Families Pycnonotidae (bulbuls), and Timaliidae (babblers) had the most number of species and individual captured. Compilation from previous study indicated that a total of 121 species of birds were recorded at Gunung Jerai, with three additional new records from the recent study.
