Abstract

Cement bonded particleboard CBP from Leucaena leucocephala trees were manufactured to determine their stability as a construction material under laboratory conditions. CBP produced at wood cement ratios of 1:2:75 and 1:3 were evaluated for their mechanical and physical properties were evaluated according to Malaysian Standards. Two types of particle sizes i.e. 2 mm and unscreened were used in board making. The particles were treated with aluminium sulphate and sodium silicate. The preliminary results showed that the 2mm and unscreened particles met the minimum requirements of the Malaysian Standard for modulus of rupture MOR modulus of elastic MOE internal bond IB and thickness swelling.
