Yuliana Susilowati, . (1995) Digital image processing remote sensing and GIS applications :the relationship and the advantages. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
Remote sensing method have great promise as techniques for earth resourcing tracking and management geographical mapping and many other environmental applications. Paralleling advancements in the technology and rapidly declining computer hardware costs have made digital image processing system affordable to an increasingly wider audience including on remote sensing applications. Digital anlysis for remote sensing data provides capabilities for making faster and much more sophosticated interpretations than are possible with the manual approach. The use of GIS technology for remote sensing data are to store and manage geographic information comprehensively and effectively to display to execute query analyzed and evaluated with the use of a model. In addition for the remote sensing data analysis will become more accurate using the auxiliary data from GIS. Furthermore GIS and digital remote sensing systems use similar equipment and computer programs for analysis and display. Thus remote sensing digital image processing and GIS have natural mutually supporting relationship to each other. This paper shows the relationships between remote sending digital image processing and GIS and the advantages of those methods.
