Based on case studies of the five best OER and five best improved OER mills nationwide in the periods 1995-96 and 1996-97 up to 1.73 improvement raising OER to 22.58 can and had been achieved. Several factors contributed to the OER increase. Aggregated foremost is the degree of FFB ripeness followed by processing of loose fruit reduction of contaminants etc. In the high OER mills A combination of management strategies and labour incentives helpes mills achieve high degree of FFB ripeness 90 and respectable OER 20 The result of the studies shows the OER has and can be increased from its respective lows of 1995 and 1996. The psychological barrier had been broken and the OER can be increased after all and raised back to the pre-weevil level of 22.
