Abstract

A study to monitor the sensitivity of fibre optic biosensor which has been developed was carried out. Kailan Brassica alboglabra and sawi Brassica chinensis var. parhinensis communis were treated with 600mg/l and 300mg/l dursban and were harvested after 2 4 and 7 days respectively. The vegetables were planted in open field and under netted structure. Studies showed that the pesticide residue were detected the highest 2 days after treatment and for latter planting method. However results from fibre optic were found to be inconsistent as compared to microplate spectrophotometer method. This probably due to the sensitivity of Light Emission Diode LED has not been refined.
