Abstract
Phytochemical and antimicrobial investigations on the bark of Calophyllum tetrapterum Clusiaceae were carried out. The n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts were subjected against five Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria as well as four yeast-like fungi. Chemical studies on the ethyl acetate extract yielded friedelin friedelan-3B-ol taraxerol a hydroxychromene a calanolide derivative and 12-methoxycalanolide B. The structural elucidation of calanolide compound is discussed.
