Abstract
Despite the strong growth of the Malaysian furniture industry over the last two decades there is evidence to suggest that the industrys real growth rate is declining. Although the uncertain supply of raw materials and escalating labour cost are considered inherent problems of the industry other factors are also strongly influencing the growth of the Malaysian furniture sector. This paper provides some empirical evidence on the many factors that govern the growth of the Malaysian furniture sector and also recommendations to ensure the continued sustainability of the industry.
