Abstract

The oil palm contains a high amount of starch especially in the trunk. This starch has high potential to be commercialized as raw material for starch-based products. The study investigated how storage time position in the trunk and height affect the starch content of the oil palm trunk. The starch content decreased with storage time. The distribution of starch seems to be concentrated more in the inner part of the trunk increasing along the height of the tree.
