Abstract
Mitsubishi Corporation MC began the Brazilian Tropical Forest Regeneration Experimental Project began in 1992 under the guidance of Dr.Akira Miyawaki of Yokohama National University. Since 2005 MC has collaborated with the NGO ASFLORA - Friends of the Amazon Forest Institute to oversee this program. Over the past two decades over 500 000 seedlings have been planted across an area of roughly 500 hectares. The program aims to not only contribute to the recovery of tropical forest ecosytems but also to educate the youth of Brazil about the importance of forest preservation.
