Abstract
Many efforts have been made to establish areas that can protect and conserve Malaysia;s aquatic ecosystem. By the end of 1994 the surrounding marine waters of 38 offshore islands in Malaysia had been gazzetted as marine parks Anon. 1998. The marine parks focus on conserving the marine ecosystem especially coral reefs and their associate flora and fauna. There are five marine parks in Malaysia; Pulau Payar Marine Park Center Pulau Redang Marine Park Center Pulau Tioman Marine Park Center Mersing Marine Park Center and Labuan Marine Park Center. A brief faunal survey was conducted to inventories the biodiversity of wildlife on the island.
