Abstract

Batch equilibrium adsorption studies were conducted for the removal of copper II from aqueous solution by different adsorbents such as sissoo sawdust activated carbon and fly ash. The equilibrium adsorption level was determined as a function of the solution pH temperature contact time and initial adsorbate concentration. The uptake capacity of the adsorbents was found in the order activated carbon sawdust fly ash. Adsorption isotherms of copper II on adsorbents were determined and correlated with common isotherm equations such as Langmuir and Freundlich models. The optimum conditions for the removal have been worked out and the kinetics of the process is also discussed.
