Abstract

The cell wall ultra structure chemical composition anatomical characteristics and lignin distribution of various oil palm waste fibers: empty fruit bunch EFB oil palm trunk OPT and oil palm frond OPF were studied. The observation of cell wall ultra structure anatomical characteristics and lignin distribution of fibers were conducted using transmission electron microscopy TEM and light microscopy LM respectively. The chemical compositions of fibers were done based on TAPPI Methods. The result obtained shows differences in cell wall ultra structure anatomical characteristics and lignin distribution of different types of fibers. Furthermore transmission electron microscopy TEM micrographs have confirmed the cell wall ultra structure of fiber studied consists ofprimary P and secondary Sl; S2 and S layers.
