Abstract

The paper discusses briefly the duties and responsibilities of the City Town Planning and Building Control Department of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall in relation to laws that are related to Building Control such as the Street Drainage and Building Act, 1974 and the Uniform Building By-laws, 1984. Provisions in the by-laws relating to the use of timber in building either for detached, semi-detached and terrace houses with single family occupancy or building intended for multiple family occupancies are specifically discussed.
