Abstract

An investigation on the role of phenolic compounds on mango malformation revealed a higher level of total phenolic content in resistant cultivar Bhadauran as compared to other cultivars susceptible to malformation. A quantitative increase in total phenolic content in the malformed tissues at all stages of development when compared with healthy tissues was also observed. Foliar applications of various chemicals viz. Ferulic acid Caffeic acid Chlorogenic acid Cinnamic acid; and Salycilic acid did not provide substantial protection to the mango trees against the malformation malady.
