Abstract

Four crossbred dairy heifers were randomly fed one of four diets in a 4x4 Latin square design with 21 d periods to determine the effect of substituting alfalfa hay with kenaf at 0 33 66 and 100 on feed intake nutrient digestibility and nitrogen utilization. Feed intake and digestibilities of dry matter organic matter fiber PO.O 1 and crude protein PO.O 1 weight gain P0.05 substantially decreased when alfalfa hay was replaced with kenaf. Additionally using kenaf showed no significant influence on nitrogen utilization by heifers.
