FRIM through its flagship project namely MYScrim Flagship Project has since 2008 created developed and commercialized engineered lumbers from local biomass including oil palm trunks coconut trunks bamboo and young plantation tree species such as Acacia mangium and sesenduk. A partnership with Timtek LLC of USA has enabled FRIM to produce engineered lumbers codenamed MYScrim of commercial qualities. MYScrim have been used to make various wood products such as solid doors living room sofas dining table and chairs display cabinets mo ldings turneries and floorboards. It is envisaged that biomass MYScrim engineered lumber manufacturing industry will have huge positive impacts on Malaysian timber industry and the environment.
