Abstract

This paper presented the techniques generally practiced for control of stain fungi in canes during harvesting and temporary storage at source areas in the Philippines. Faulty techniques and antiquated practices for the preservations of rattan during harvesting and temporary storage at collection depots still exist at present. Because of these stain fungi remain a problem. Research-tested techniques of effectively control staining fungi at a level within the reach of small-scale industries and the equipment developed were discussed. Technologies to control staining of rattan were also recommended.
