Abstract

A number of secondary metabolites of Ajuga niponensis Ajuga decumbens and Teucriuin quadrifarium were studied. Behavioral and electrophysiological bioassay were used to identify the function groups of clerodane compounds responsible for antifeedancy. From chemical modification of natural products 40 clerodane derivatives were synthesized eliciting a broad range of effects which varied between species of insects.
