Abstract

A virus which posses certain features in common with Baculovirus has been isolated recently from the diseased larvae of Spodoptera litura. The virus was propagated in the larvae of S. litura and specimens were collected after 1 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 48 72 96 120-hr postinoculation p.i.. The infection started from the midgut cells and the multiplication of virus occurred in the cytoplasm of fat bodies. The disease is now known as granulosis and confirmed to have the potential for the control of S. litura.
