Abstract

The yield and fruit quality of rock melon cultivar ;Glamour; with three treatments of saline fertigation stages had been studied under green house condition. About 360 melon seeds were sown in direct-seeded. The fertigation salinity started from 1.0dS m- and gradually increased to 2.0dS m- before treatment. The treatments were imposed to the plants on days after sowing DAS 50 in fruiting time. The three levels of treatment imposed were 2.0 2.5 control and 3.0dS m- . All plants were irrigated for 1.5 L in four times per day 8.30am II.30am 2.30pm and 4.30 pm. The experiment lasted for a period of 100 DAS. In this study fruit weights of two maintained fruits per plant with Total Soluble Solid TSS plant dry weight and total leaf area were determined. The highest salinity treatment 3.0dSm- showed the lowest total leaf area 96.58cm2 total leafdrymass 57. 79g and mean fruit weight1.39kg but gave the highest mean of Total Soluble Solid 12.38 at Brix 20. Increasing fertigation salinity would increase TSS but decrease the fruit yield total leaf area and total leaf drymass. SAS analysis gives insignificant differences to plants; growth fruit yield and TSS.
