Abstract

The study on the effect of different shade levels on growth of kemangi was conducted. Higher total dry mass production was obtained if plants were grown without shade. However under shade a high portion of dry mass was accumulated in leaves. As compared to plants grown without shade 37 and 42 of the total mass for those grown under 25 and 50 shades respectively were accumulated in the leaf Mineral absorption will only be seriously affected when the plants are grown under 50 shade. Kemangi can be grown without shade or under partial shade. For optimum leaf production however kemangi should be planted under 25 shade.
