Abstract

The objective of this study was to characterise the biosurfactant produced by P. aeruginosa UKMP14T. Surface tension reduction activity of the crude biosurfactant as compared to SDS was relatively stable at 100C for 6 h pH 4-7 and 0-5 w/v of sodium chloride NaCI. Bacterial adherence to hydrocarbon BATH assay showed addition of biosurfactant at above concentration of CMC 80-100 mg/L to cells suspension of P. aeruginosa UKMP14T exhibitedan increase in cells adherence to Tapis crude oil at 100.
