Abstract

Anthropogenic byproducts are accumulating at ever increasing rates. For more than 2000 years humans have land-applied a large variety of byproducts in an effort to supplement or improve the soil Moss et al. 2002. Land application of byproducts is considered in term of benefits to agriculture while protecting the environment. Beneficial reuse of industrial byproducts such as water treatment residue WTR coal fly ash CFA and red gypsum RG are discussed in terms of their benefits to agriculture. Clearly many of these byproducts are highly beneficial to crop productions as fertilizer substitutes and soil amendments.
