UNSPECIFIED (2011) Physical map - assisted improvement of the oil palm genome assembly to enhance productivity. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
In 2009 MPOB had announced the sequencing of three genomes from both species of oil palm. The oil palm genome assembly was improved using bacterial artificial chromosome SAC libraries. The SAC contigs were merged with sequence scaffolds to provide a genome wide physical map of oil palm. Highquality annotation was also generated. The oil palm genetic map was also aligned/integrated with the physical map and efforts made to identify the shell and fruit colour gene using the assembly information will also be discussed.
