Abstract
A covalently closed circular supercoiled plasmid pCLK 1 was detected in the caldoactive thermophilic bacterium Thermus icelandic strain B1. It was subsequently purified by caesium chlorideethidium bromide density gradient centrifugation. A physical map of pCLK 1 showing the cleavage sites of nine restriction endonucleases was constructed. Its size was determined to be 8.76 kb. The implications of this finding are discussed
