Kaewnopparat S ., . and Chulasiri M . U ., . (1984) Growth and fermentation of Zymomonas in high concentrations of ethanol and sucrose. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
A total of 274 isolates of Zymomonas from soil sugarcane juice and sweet todday juice were examined for their ability to grow and ferment in a range of ethanol concentrations. Ninety eight isolates could grow in 15 ethanol and 26 of them were able to ferment in this concentration of ethanol as well. Among these 26 isolates 19 were demonstrated to ferment concentrations of sucrose as high as 40. After similar experiments were done at different temperatures 4 isolates with better activity than the others were chosen for more detailed studies
