Abstract

The epidemiology of Rhizoctonia leaf rot was studied on three vegetable crops of Brassicae viz. choy sam Brassica chinesis L. var. parachinensis BaileyTsen and Lee kai lan B. alboglabra Bailey and cabbage B. oleracea L. var. capitata L.. Observations showed that the disease was most rampant and severe in September-November 1987 and February-May 1988. This coincided with the two periods of wet in Melaka. Among the three vegetables choy sam was most susceptible followed by kai lan and cabbage which was most tolerant to the disease. The disease was prevalent throughout the growing season and was most devastating when crop stands became dense near maturity
