Abstract
Market intervention through producer cooperatives has had dismal records particularly among developing and third-world economics. The same could be said of market intervention in the Malaysian fish trade. This paper provides some theoretical considerations for intervention in multi-market distribution systems and by incorporating the notion of conditional expectations to capture the decision-making environment of traders hypotheses on market relationships were tested using Geweke's causality so as to determine the optimal market for fishermen cooperatives to intervene.
