New fungal diseases of mungbean from East Java Indonesia

Mungbean in East Java is known to be affected by four previuosly reported diseases i.e. Cercospora leafspot powdery mildew rust and scab. It is estimated that these diseases may reduce yield by as much as 40 percent. Recently we have found three additional diseases on mungbean not previously reported from Indonesia. Angular leafspot was widespread but apparently restricted to Madura. Leaf blotch was found in every location visited in East Java while leaf blight was observed only occasionally in farmers fields and in experimental stations. The causal fungi and their mycological characteristics as well as the symptoms of the related disease are reported

Abstract
