Abstract

Fourteen tomato genotypes obtained from the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center AVRDC India and Nepal were screened for their reactions to a local isolate of Pseudomonas solanacearum in the greenhouse by artificial inoculation. Of the 14 genotypes tested four genotypes were rated susceptible; six moderately susceptible; three moderately resistant and one resistant. The resistant genotype Rampur Small had longer incubating period 9 days than the susceptible genotypes 3 - 5 days. Similarly the resistant genotype took more days to produce 10 percent wilted plants 23 days than the susceptible genotypes 5 - 12 days. Rampur Small could be a possible source of resistance to bacterial wilt in this region of Nepal
