Abstract

In the culture of male red tilapia in static ponds at stocking rates of 5000/ac in 0.1 acre ponds it was possible to attain production rates of 8.5 to 10.1 m.t./ha/yr. Desirable feed conversion of 1.47 to 1.78 were attained with pelleted feed containing 30 percent crude protein. The addition of 40 ppm of virginiamycin did not improve the growth rate
