Abstract

Mangosteen Garcinia mangostana Linn. has been reported to be apomitic and fruit is set asexually without fertilization. Subsequently plants are invariable and there is only one cultivar. In this report mangosteen fruits were sampled from six location in Peninsular Malaysia. In the nine characteristic of the fruit sampled there was no significance between fruits. Nevertheless it was recorded that slight variations between fruit obtained from Temerloh Pahang Bukit Gantang Perak and Pasir Puteh Kelantan exist
