Abstract

Productivity of secondary metabollites from Perilla sp. was conducted by cultured cells in a suspension culture and on agar medium of Gamborg B5 medium. Anthocyanin and rosmarinic acid contents in the cultured were approx. 6mg/g FW and 1.5 mg/g FW respectively. Productivity of both metabolites was affected by adding a synthetic cytokinin N-2-chloro-4-pyridyl-N'-phenylurea. The effect of N-2-chloro-4-pyridyl-N'-phenylurea suppressed the production of anthocyanin and stimulated the production of rosmarinic acid. Potassium nitrate increased the production of both metabolites especially anthocyanins. The lack of phosphate salt in Gamborg B5 medium led to the 200 rosmarinic acid production and 100 anthocyanin production
