Abstract

A highly sensitive and specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ELISA is developed for the detection of carbaryl. Polyclonal antibodies with a hapten carbaryl-bovine serum albumin by immunization with a hapten carbaryl-bovine serum albumin BSA conjugate. Antibodies with the highest titer were used to obtain a standard curve for the quantification of carbaryl in vegetable samples obtained from certain areas of Selangor Kepong Ulu Yam and Tanjung Karang and Cameron Highland. As comparison the carbaryl residues in the vegetable samples were also detected using HPLC High Pressure Liquid Chromatography
