Abstract

Malaria is probably the most serious health problem facing rural population in Sabah previously and still today. Isolated populations can benefit greatly from the knowledge of local resources which may effectively be used to control it. The results of an ethnobotanical survey and in the context of previously published information on anti-malarial plants species used in the treatment of malaria in Sabah are presented. Amongst the indigenous groups involved in this study are the Kadazandusun Murut and Lundayeh. Seventeen species of fourteen genera and eleven families were identified as having been used for this purpose.
