Abstract

Two type of cocoa butter based lipstick were developed coded 218 and 143. They were evaluated by 20 female panelists aged from 23 to 33. Seven attributes namely color taste stiffness smoothness moist lip appearance and overall acceptability were tested based on 9 hedonic scale. Result showed that cocoa butter lipstick coded 218 is more liked by the panelists. Nonetheless both type are acceptable by the panelists. Sensory evaluation revealed that 218 has a higher score in stiffness and smoothness which indicate a feel during application. Due to the higher contains of pigment in the cocoa butter lipstick coded 218 it give the consumer's lip a bright lovely look and hence result in a higher score in the attribute of lip appearance. Both types are equally moist as perceived by the panelists.
