Abstract

Garcinia nervosa Miq. is a plant that grows in various parts of Indonesia especially Sumatra Jawa and Kalimantan. The plants usually are utilized as medicines for anti diarrhoea anto-inflammation anti-microbial and skin infection. The isolation was conducted through chromatography using silica gel as stationary phase and n-hexane-ethyl acetate as mobile phase. The structure of isolated compounds were established by spectroscopic data IR H-NMR C-NMR MS. The antibacterial assay used the diffusion method by observing the inhibition zone that was created. Two isolated constituens were identified as stigmasterol C29H50OA and Dulxanthon GC22H22O8B. Antibacterial assay showed that compound B had zone inhibition on growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli.
