Abstract
This paper traces the rapid development scenario in the country and the impacts on the status of water resources in Malaysia. It outlines some inherent problems and challenges within the country in implementing Integrated River Basin Management IRBM. It looks also at efforts in containing the negative impact amongst which is the policy statement in the Third Outline Perspective Plan 2001-2010 OPP3 on integrated river-basin approach.
