Abstract
A laboratory study on selected biological parameters of a new cockroach pest species Symploce pallens Stephenswas initiated. Parameters such as nymphal development total number of moults preoviposition period incubation period number of nymphs per ootheca number of oothecae per female nymphal sex ratio nymphal survivorship longevity and the intrinsic rate of increase rn were determined. Results indicated the potential of this species to establish to become an important cockroach pest species but its competitiveness is lower than that of the German cockroach Blattella germanica a global cockroach pest species. There is a good potential to model the growth rate of this species based on the information obtained from this study.
